Air hijack foiled with 6 arrested in Xinjiang

SIX people were arrested this afternoon as they attempted to hijack a plane on route from Hotan to Urumqi, both cities in northwest Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, police said.
They tried to hijack Tianjin Airlines' Flight GS7664 around 12:35pm, 10 minutes later after the plane took off from the Hotan airport.
The flight crew and passengers fought with the hijackers and overwhelmed them, and the plane returned to Hotan, local news portal, www.tianshannet.com.cn, reported.
Police arrested the six hijackers as soon as the plane landed. No more details are available as investigation is ongoing.
