Air vent made to rescue trapped workers in E China tunnel collapse

An air vent has been created for a crowd of trapped workers in a collapsed expressway tunnel under construction in east China's Fujian Province.
The trapped workers confirmed the vent's success by knocking on the 27-meter-long iron tube, according to local work safety authorities.
Rescuers were told that 21 workers were buried after a 30-meter long section of the expressway tunnel in Longyan City collapsed.
An estimated 5,000 cubic meters of debris has blocked the tunnel, which was being expanded to accommodate the expressway linking Xiamen City of Fujian and Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province.
Further rescue work is underway.
