Aircraft maker banned after conducting unapproved flight test

An aircraft maker based in Sichuan Province was banned from further production and fined 500,000 yuan (US$80,350) for conducting a flight test without a license and allowing the pilot to land the aircraft on a rural road.

The joint venture between the Beichuan government and US-based George Heintz Aircraft Manufacturing Company didn’t have an aircraft manufacturing license or flying approval, officials said yesterday.

The pilot, who landed the ultra-light aircraft on a local highway, refueled at a gas station and then took off again, didn’t hold a China aviator’s certificate and was fined 100,000 yuan, local news portal, www.newssc.org, reported.
