Alcohol-induced frenzy causes man to bite woman's face
DOCTORS said the man who gnawed at a woman's face on June 29 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province was suffering a complicated intoxication syndrome, local media reported.
Police said they have arrested the attacker surnamed Dong for causing trouble and assaulting people, today's Wenzhou Business Daily reported.
Police said Dong was in a comma for seven hours after he was caught on June 29 for blocking the woman's car on the road and biting her face in frenzy.
Dong told the police, after he woke up, that he could not remember anything about the assault. The only thing he remembered was that he had a lot of alcohol with his friends at lunch that day.
"Drug addicts would always feel that danger is nearby after taking drugs. But Dong's urine test showed that he didn't take any drug," a police officer told the newspaper.
Guo Hanfeng, director of the mental health department of a Wenzhou hospital, said Dong was likely suffering a complicated intoxication syndrome that made him very aggressive and totally unconscious of his behavior.
Guo said that people with that syndrome may also suffer serious mental problems and are prone to behavior in violent and aggressive manners.
