A VAST bright green algal bloom off China's east coast is being blown toward the coast, a State Oceanic Administration official said yesterday. Cui Wenlin said the outbreak has nearly doubled in size to about 300 square kilometers since it was first spotted on June 14 off Shandong province. The bloom, about 10-20 kilometers offshore yesterday, is being blown toward the resort city of Qingdao.
