Ancient city wall defaced with Graffiti slogans
Graffiti containing inspirational slogans was seen on Nanjing City's ancient walls and the words were regarded as a reflection of anxiety among young adults.
Slogans such as “You can do it! Fighting!” and “I have to own a house in Nanjing when I am 24 years old” were found on Zhongshanmen Wall, which was built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Yangtze Evening News reported.
The wall is regarded as a cultural relic and under national protection.
An official with the wall's management office told the newspaper extra patrols would be added to ensure Zhongshanmen wasn't further defaced.
People who deface cultural relics can be fined.
After the story spread, some said some young people were probably venting their frustration and worries about the future because housing prices are too high in Nanjing.
