Anger at US statement on repatriations from Thailand

CHINA has strongly opposed a US State Department statement that condemns Thailand’s repatriation of illegal immigrants to China.
“The US statement has ignored facts and is full of political bias, and it serves as a connivance in illegal immigration and smuggling and a violation of relevant international treaties and laws,” foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said. China has lodged solemn representations with the United States regarding the issue, she said.
“We urge the US to have a correct view of China’s efforts in addressing illegal emigration, stop making wrong comments and safeguard the healthy and stable growth of China-US relations,” Hua said.
