Anger at fishing boat seizure
TAIWAN should stop its “rude and dangerous way” of treating fishermen from the Chinese mainland, An Fengshan, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said yesterday.
He said Taiwan should instead ensure the safety and property of fishermen from the mainland.
He was referring to the seizure of a fishing boat from Guangdong Province by a Taiwan patrol in waters near Penghu County in Taiwan on Saturday.
Two fishermen were injured when rubber bullets were fired from the patrol boat, while the other five were detained.
An said Taiwan should release the fishermen as soon as possible and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
