Angry cabbies smash Porsche SUV to support bullied fellow

Nearly 100 cabbies besieged and smashed a Porsche SUV yesterday morning in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province after the Porsche driver beat a cabbie in the road, a local newspaper reported today.

The incident occurred in the wee hours of yesterday when the Porsche driver, surnamed Chen, ran a red light and crashed into a taxi, sending it more than 10 meters away, witnesses said.

Li Jinfeng, the taxi driver, got out of his car to check the damage when Chen walked to him, grabbed his neck, and kicked him for half a minute.

Other cabbies passing the crossroad felt indignant at what they saw and summoned colleagues to discipline the Porsche driver. Soon a mob gathered and they began to smash the SUV. But Chen ignored them and sat inside the car with doors locked up.

The Porsche was pulled away at around 4:30am. Initial investigation found Chen was drunk at that time. But the man denied he was drunk and said he was a used car dealer without confirming if he owned the SUV. Investigation is still ongoing.
