Angry official turns suicide bomber
AN official blew himself up in a township government building in central China's Hunan Province, killing himself and injuring five others on Tuesday.
Liu Dejun, the relocation official in Longtian Township of Hongjiang City, was summoned to the building at noon on Tuesday by mediators who were to settle disputes with his ex-wife, according to Xinhua news agency yesterday.
Liu lost his temper during the meeting and started to fight with his ex-wife's brother surnamed Zeng. He took out a cleaver and waved it at Zeng after Zeng "cursed him with bad words," the report said.
Other officials at the scene were trying to stop Liu when he suddenly detonated explosives he had hidden under the clothing.
Liu died instantly and five people, including a township official, Zeng and three other relatives of Liu's ex-wife, were injured, the report said.
The survivors are being treated in hospital.
