Anhui school girl attack suspect seized
THE suspect who assaulted a high school girl, knocked her unconscious, and left her in a dry ditch half naked in a rural town in eastern Anhui Province has been arrested.
Yao Jifeng, 33, was caught in Wenzhou in neighboring Zhejiang Province and police are now investigating the case.
Yao was believed to have assaulted the girl identified as Xiao Li in Gaogong Town on March 11.
The 18-year-old girl was found in deep coma and barely breathing the next afternoon. Local police mistook her as a tramp who had frozen to death and asked for a funeral car from the local civil affairs department to take the "dead body" away.
The driver, instead of taking the girl to a crematory, dumped her about 10 kilometers away in the border of another town and left her in a dry ditch for a second night.
Xiao Li is now in stable condition after treatment. Four officials in Gaogong have been detained for dereliction of duty.
