Anti-graft official under investigation
The head of the Ministry of Finance鈥檚 anti-graft committee is himself under investigation for suspected graft, the anti-corruption watchdog said yesterday.
Mo Jiancheng is suspected of 鈥渟erious discipline breaches,鈥 a euphemism for graft, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection said in a statement.
Mo, who became the top graft buster for the finance ministry in December 2015, was also a member of the ministry鈥檚 Party committee and previously served as deputy Party secretary and vice governor of east China鈥檚 Jiangxi Province.
The commission has been making efforts to show it is serious about tackling corruption in its own ranks, which it refers to as 鈥渄arkness hiding beneath the light.鈥
It recently published rectifications of units examined during a 12th round of inspections on its website.
They included Beijing Normal University, Beihang University, Dalian University of Technology and Zhejiang University, as well as China Railway Corporation and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
All the units had made rectifications based on feedback provided by the commission.
