Anti-graft websites return

FOUR whistle-blowing websites closed for not registering with the authorities are up and running again, after receiving their licenses.

However, they will now be covering more general claims of corruption.

Inspired by the success of the Indian site Ipaidbribe.com, thousands of web users flooded the Chinese websites with their experiences of bribery in daily life or logged complaints about officials alleged to be involved in corruption, The Beijing News reported yesterday.

But, the sites were closed in June as they didn't have the necessary operation licenses from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

There were also concerns that they could become embroiled in libel disputes.

The four websites that recently received the green light from the ministry are woxinghuile.info, tmzg.org, wohuilule.com and wxhwz.com.

They will steer away from specific allegations and instead focus on general discussions on how to stamp out corruption.
