鈥楢pple man鈥 caught with 94 phones
A MAN caught trying to smuggle 94 iPhones into China by strapping them to his body found himself the subject of online ridicule for his efforts.
A picture went viral with comments comparing him to comic superhero Iron Man, according to the People’s Daily newspaper.
Microbloggers called him “Apple Man,” using a Chinese character commonly used for superheroes, particularly Marvel’s Iron Man.
He was held in the southern city of Shenzhen as he tried to enter from Hong Kong with the handsets under his clothing held together with clingfilm and masking tape.
But the alarm went off when he passed through a metal detector gate.
Despite being made in China, iPhones are expensive on the mainland and there is a thriving trade in illegal imports from Hong Kong.
