Apple's largest store gets off to a bad start
TENS of security guards blocked the construction of an Apple flagship store, set to be the largest in the world, in Dalian, a port city in northeast Liaoning Province.
The incident occurred at noon yesterday after enclosure boards were erected around the site of the future store in the city's Parkland Mall area.
The guards from a department store near the site pulled down the boards in forced demolition, the Xinmin Evening News reported today.
Insiders said the building company expanded the border of its construction site by several meters and affected the business of the department store, the paper said.
They also said the four-story Apple store violated the rules that a temporary structure must not be higher than two floors. That means the construction won't be able to get a government approval.
No one has come out to comment on the incident, the report said.
