April sees more good days
CITIES in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region had more “good” air days in April, official data showed yesterday, with their average daily Air Quality Index under 100.
The region’s 13 cities reported good air quality for 23 days on average, up 16.5 percent year on year, the Ministry of Environmental Protection said. Beijing had 22 good days in April, up from 18.
Air quality also improved in China’s 338 cities at prefecture level and above, with the average density of PM2.5 dropping by 4.8 percent.
Shanxi’s Taiyuan and Hebei’s Tangshan joined Hebei’s Handan as having the worst air quality in April of 74 cities monitored by the ministry.
Cities in the Yangtze River and the Pearl River deltas reported worsening air quality last month.
