'Argentina lost so I'm not having your baby'

WHEN Germany sent Argentina home in the World Cup it also led to huge marital problems for a couple in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.

They had come to an agreement over their future baby which depended on the result of the game.

The 25-year-old wife, a 12-year Argentina fan, was reluctant to get pregnant after getting married. She made a deal with her husband, a Germany fan, that she would get pregnant this year if Argentina won the match, as a gift to her beloved team.

But if Argentina lost, she would delay plans for a baby by one year for every goal Germany scored. They even signed a contract with these terms set out in detail, the China News Service reported yesterday.

After Argentina was routed 4-0, the husband rubbed salt in his wife's wounds by laughing at her team.

That caused a big fight, the report said, and tempers flew when the wife said, as per contract, that she wouldn't be considering a baby for four years.

She went back to her family's home after her mother-in-law heard about the matter and insisted her son get a divorce if she refused to have a baby.

The couple are still in disagreement, the report said.
