Armless man fined for driving without a license

An armless man was fined 500 yuan (US$80.47) for driving without a license after police caught him using his feet to steer a vehicle yesterday, according to Chutian Metropolis Daily.

The driver, a 45-year-old man surnamed Guo, is from Xiantao, Hubei Province, and was driving his friend to Maozui Town. Police spotted Guo at Xiantao Service Station on the G50 highway running from Shanghai to Chongqing.

His told the police his arms were amputated when he was 7 years old due to an accident involving high-voltage power lines.

He told the police he had already driven 160,000km without a license and never had an accident. He uses his left foot to control the steering wheel and changes gears using his right foot, the report said.

Guo learned to drive when he saw a friend doing it because he thought it didn’t look too difficult.
