At large for 10 years, 2 men face death for slaying dating couple

TWO men were sentenced to capital punishment yesterday for robbing and killing a pair of lovers in a Hangzhou park nearly 11 years ago after they were eventually arrested last November.
According to the prosecutors of Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang Province, the two suspects Wang Guangbin and Wu Kai robbed and killed Zuo Li and Jin Jing in the city's Wanxiang Park on the night of November 4, 2000. Their brutal crime shocked the entire city, Zhejiang Online reported today.
The court denied the defense of the two suspects who claimed they surrendered to the police and didn't rob the victims.
The court verdict also orders the two convicts to compensate the victims' families with 400,000 yuan.
