At least 18 killed in E. China plant fire

At least 18 people have died after a food company caught fire on Sunday evening in east China's Shandong Province, said local authorities on Monday.

The fire broke out at 7 pm Sunday at a carrot packaging workshop of Longyuan Food Co., Ltd in Shouguang City, a town known for its green stuff. It was put out at around 9:30 pm.

Thirteen injured people are being treated in hospital.

The managers of the company have been put under police control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
