Attacker of female students is executed

A man who repeatedly stabbed female students over four years, killing one and hurting 23, has been executed in Chenzhou in central China's Hunan Province.

Between 2006 and 2009, Lei Haosheng stabbed the students' breasts and hips with syringes and awls he had collected from trash bins to take revenge on his girlfriend who had reported a theft he had committed, the court said.

Lei was finally caught on May 10, 2009, after he stabbed a girl in Guiyang County in southwest China's Guizhou Province, reported Xiaoxiang Morning Herald yesterday.

The court convicted him of intentional injury on May 13, 2010, and he was sentenced to death after the possibility that he was mental ill was excluded.

Lei's hatred of women started after he was convicted of theft and jailed for eight months in 1993.
