Attacker seized after lacerating face of CCTV worker
THE man who slashed the face of a CCTV employee in Beijing with a knife four days ago has been captured and he admitted to the police that he picked his target at random, the Beijing News reported today.
Last Thursday, the 39-year-old attacker surnamed Xu approached the woman victim surnamed Lin outside the old compound of China Central Television on Chang'an Avenue. Confirming that she was a CCTV employee, Xu took out a knife and hacked her face, then fled the scene.
Lin was sent to the hospital immediately and is still hospitalized but her life is out of danger.
Xu was captured 21 hours after the bloody attack. Police investigation showed that he was from northeast China's Liaoning Province and arrived in Beijing last month. The motive for his attack is still unclear
