Attackers want to kill pseudo science debunker

THE veteran pseudo science debunker Fang Zhouzi, who was attacked by two thugs late Sunday, said behind the attacks were those he has exposes.

Fang said at a press conference on Monday that the attack was by no means random. The two thugs clearly wanted to kill him. They first sprayed ether at his face and then tried to hammer him on the head, he said as quoted by Beijing Times on Tuesday.

Fang's allegation echoed with Wang Dawei, a criminologist with China People's Public Security University, who said the attack was premeditated. Fang narrowly escaped the attackers but the thugs still hurt his back, he said in his blog on Monday.

Fang claimed that an editor Fang Xuanchang with Caijing magazine was attacked too on June 24 this year and the two attacks were be related. Fang Xuanchang worked with Fang Zhouzi in 2004 to expose a fake "cancer-preventative" herbal medicine.
