Authority cautions against corruption, extravagance in holidays
AGENCIES directly under the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee have been ordered to intensify supervision against corruption and extravagance during the upcoming holidays.
These agencies' Party organizations and discipline inspection bodies at local levels should watch out for undesirable work styles as the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approach, said a circular recently issued by the discipline inspection working committee of the organs directly under the CPC Central Committee.
They should investigate malpractice including spending public funds on gifts, banquets or sightseeing trips, using public vehicles for private purposes, and excessive subsidies and bonuses, said the circular posted on the website of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection on Monday.
It requested increased inspections to clean up undesirable work styles such as formalism, bureaucracy, hedonism and extravagance in accordance with the "eight-point" guidelines against bureaucracy and extravagance issued by the CPC leadership in late 2012.
Violators will be named and shamed, it added.
The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on Sept. 15 this year and the seven-day National Day holiday starts on Oct. 1.
