Avoid prostitutes, China pilots warned ahead of peak travel period
CHINA’S pilots have been warned to avoid prostitutes, gambling and drink ahead of the peak travel period during the Chinese Lunar New Year, that falls on next Monday.
The China Airline Pilots Association said in an open letter on its official website that some pilots were found involved with prostitutes, gambling, drunk-driving and smuggling.
“Such behavior severely challenges legal and moral bottom lines,” the letter signed by the association’s secretary general Zhao Dongsheng said. It did not name any pilot.
Chinese pilots have flew a total of 8.46 million hours last year on over 3.6 million flights with quite low accidental rate, the association said. It praised the hard work of every pilot of the nation.
However, “very few” pilots were selfish or pursing hedonistic, the letter added.
