Award-winning photographer fades to black
A TOP photographer has been stripped of his professional membership after four of his award-winning photos were found to copy other works.
Sang Yuzhu, former vice secretary-general of the Jilin Provincial Photographers Association in northeastern China's Jilin Province, was removed from his position, China Youth Daily reported today.
Sang was awarded the eighth golden award for domestic photographers, the country's top honor for photographers, in July 2009. However, Xu Lin, a retired editor of People's Daily, found that four of Sang's 10 award-winning works were almost the same as photos published several years ago, the report said.
Sang defended the photos, saying they were cooperative projects with the original photographers. But he lost the prize because judges said the entries should be individual works.
