Baby girl has needles removed from body, police probe under way
A 56-DAY-OLD girl was found to have three more sewing needles in her body in Bei'an City of north China's Heilongjiang Province, the second time she has had needles removed from her body this month, Life Daily Post reported today.
The sewing needles were found yesterday in the abdomen and below the left armpit of the girl, nicknamed Guoguo, and her liver and kidney were pierced.
She was hospitalized for the same reason just 15 days before as a 5-centimeter-long sewing needle was removed from her body, but Guoguo's family didn't call police about the case, the report said. The baby was in stable condition after the needle was removed.
Yesterday, the hospital called police, who are investigating and working on how to protect her, the report said.
"Somebody must do this deliberately as the three needles pierced her liver and kidney. We must find out who did this!" said Yin Hai, 65, the girl's grandfather.
The baby is receiving treatment in the ICU of Harbin Children's Hospital.
In a separate case, police in Huai'an in Jiangsu Province are investigating a report that a total of six sewing needles were removed from the body of an 11-month-old girl in the past three months.
