Baby killer tells court she was driven crazy by fortune teller
A woman stood in trial yesterday in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province for killing a 2-year-old boy with concentrated sulfuric acid to revenge for the bad luck the victim's father, a fortune teller, brought her.
Prosecutors said Xiong Jingjing, 29, poured the vitriol down the toddler's throat on April 27 because she felt his father, Huang Xikui, cast an evil spell on her and seriously disturbed her life.
Xiong appeared indifferent in the court, sitting cross-legged and refusing to admit to her crime. She said the boy was just a sacrifice for the "killing game," the Guangzhou Daily reported today.
The boy was Huang's foster child. He and his wife demanded 900,000 yuan (US$141,750) in compensation in the court.
Xiong went to Shenzhen in 2005 from her native Jiangxi Province and met Huang last year. Huang told her that little demons had invaded her and were impossible to expel, she said.
She told the court that Huang then introduced more devils to make a mess of her life and caused her insomnia.
Her parents said she had been in a state of delirium and appeared almost insane since last November. She shouted "Huang Xikui, please set me free," her younger sister told the newspaper.
