Bakery blast injures 21 in downtown Beijing

AT least 21 people were injured in a gas explosion at a bakery this morning in downtown Beijing, according to local newspaper Beijing Times.
The explosion occurred at 7:33am in a Golden Phoenix Bakery store on Guangming Road, Dongcheng District.
The fire has been put out and two gas tanks containing 50 kg of liquefied gas have been removed from the scene, local fire department confirmed.
All the 21 injured have been hospitalized and some of them were in critical condition, the newspaper reported.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
Witnesses said many injured are passers-by who were buying breakfast at a snack stall neighboring the bakery.
