Bandits try cash takeaway at McDonald's

THREE armed bandits robbed a McDonald's in Dongguan City Guangdong Province early yesterday, a Guangdong-based newspaper reported today.

Three men entered the fast food restaurant in the Yonghuating Pedestrian Street at 4:50am yesterday. It was drizzling outside and there were only a handful of customers, the Dongguan Times reported.

The five employees on duty called out a welcoming greeting to the three but then found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun.

The robbers ordered the employees to put their hands behind their heads and sit on the floor. One of them ran to the manager's office to grab the cash and then they fled with the takings in a takeaway bag.

It was all over in two minutes but a security guard with the restaurant said most of the day's takings had been removed before the night shift so the bandits would only have got away with a few hundred yuan.
