Beijing Metro gets touch on security
COMMUTERS who refuse to cooperate with security checks will be denied entrance to Beijing's Metro.
The city's amended Metro management rules, aimed at tightening up public transport security, have been passed by the city government, today's Legal Evening News reported.
The amendment named seven items which are banned from on subway trains. They include guns, banned knives, explosives and materials that are inflammable, radioactive, poisonous or corrosive.
Beggars, leaflet distributors and map sellers are also banned from the Metro.
Shops are banned for 50 meters on either side of Metro stations and construction work there is strictly controlled.
The existing Metro management rule was enacted in 2004.
