Beijing Metro trains delayed after trio jumped to tracks uninjured
THREE people jumped down on the tracks at a Metro station in Beijing early this afternoon, forcing an incoming train to apply the emergency brake to avoid hitting them, the city’s Metro authorities said.
The people were not hurt but are now being investigated by police. It was not clear why they jumped.
The Beijing Metro operator said the trio jumped from the platform at Dongdan Station on Line 1 about 2:19pm.
The power supply to the tracks also was shut down, officials said.
The emergency lasted for about 10 minutes, ending with the trio being pulled up to the platform. They were handed over to police, said the Metro authority.
Several trains were delayed because of the incident.
