Beijing airport bomber sues over his 2005 injury
A PARALYZED man who set off an explosive in the Beijing airport last summer sued the Dongguan City government of failing to admit his injury was sustained when he was attacked by security officers in 2005.
The trial concluded yesterday in Guangdong Province although the court did not announce a verdict.
Ji Zhongxing, 33, who is paralyzed from the waist down, set off a homemade bomb outside Beijing airport’s terminal 3 arrivals exit on July 20, severely injuring himself and slightly injuring a police officer. He was sentenced to six years in prison. Last month Ji’s appeal was rejected.
Dongguan authorities said Ji, who is from Shandong Province, was injured in a traffic accident and that there was no evidence to support his accusations.
After the bombing, Dongguan’s public security bureau investigated his case. Ji’s lawyer filed an application in August asking for disclosure of the outcome. The municipal government said the application had been handed to the public security bureau.
