ANOTHER official of the State Food and Drug Administration has stood on trial for allegedly taking bribes of 1.47 million yuan (US$221,442) to help drug and medical device companies get product permits, Xinhua reported today.
Wei Liang, 55, senior product investigator of the administration's drug registration department, pleaded guilty of taking bribes in cash and stored-value cards from 25 companies and helping them with product permits during his tenure from 2006 to 2010, Beijing Dongcheng District People's Court said on Wednesday.
Wei was detained after a drug company, whose named was not disclosed, reported to China's corruption watchdog, accusing him of seeking bribes in February.
The court didn't give a final verdict.
Wei's case has led to the arrest of five other officials in the administration in April.
