Beijing flights grounded for National Day parade
ALL flights in and out of Beijing will be cancelled for the National Day parade on October 1 from 9am to noon.
Six flights from Shanghai to Beijing, departing between 7:55am and 9am, will be cancelled as will seven Beijing-Shanghai flights, departing from 9:05am to noon, to ensure safety for the 60th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China, according to Shanghai Morning Post today.
Flights will not be affected in the afternoon.
Beijing air traffic controllers have to handle the air force parade team on the National Day.
The city also widened its ban on flying activities from September 15 to October 8 to include pigeons and kite flying.
Police also started to check every vehicle entering Beijing at nearly 200 major road intersections and security check points on Tuesday, according to Xinhua news agency.
