Beijing to take government vehicles off the road
BEIJING is to ban some government vehicles from the capital’s streets in its bid to improve air quality during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation economic leaders’ meeting later this month.
From today, 70 percent of the city government’s vehicles, or around 19,000 of its fleet, will face driving restrictions. An odd-even license plate policy for cars, including those from outside Beijing, will also be put in place starting from today to next Wednesday, the day after the two-day APEC meeting is to be held in the capital.
