Bereaved dad demands kidnappers' execution

THE father of a boy killed by kidnappers in south China's Shenzhen City wants no compensation – he just wants to see the three abductors executed.

Chen Hao, 11, was killed despite paying 1 million yuan ransom because kidnappers feared he could identify them, today's Nanfang Daily reported. In an interview, Chen's father blamed slow action by police for helping cause his son's death.

His body was found chopped up in the sea – the third kidnapped child to die in Shenzhen this year. The tragedy could have been avoided if the police alerted parents after the first kidnapping, the father told the newspaper.

"The only thing I wanted is to see them die and I will sue Shenzhen police if the kidnappers aren't given a capital sentence," the report said.

The father said he didn't pick up his son from school every day because his apartment was only 200 meters away.

Chen failed to return on November 17 and kidnappers demanded a ransom not long after.

Police are holding suspect Kong Jinlin, a bus driver who knew the family.
