Big Chill In N. China

A cold wave will hit northern China over the next two days with temperatures likely to drop 6 to 12 degrees Celsius, the National Meteorological Center said yesterday.

Cold winds from Siberia will sweep the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Qinghai Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Shaanxi Province, and most parts of Gansu Province and Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Heavy snow is expected in Tacheng, Altay, the Yili River Valley and the northern area along the Tianshan Mountains in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
