Big reward for 'dangerous' escaped prisoner
POLICE are offering 50,000 yuan (US$7,325) reward after a "dangerous" prisoner escaped hospital after swallowing nails in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Chen Hongzhou, 29, escaped from his guards at Qinzhou City No.1 People's hospital, the Public Security Bureau said. Anyone who gave information leading to his capture would get the reward, Xinhua news agency reported.
Chen, wearing manacles and fetters, fled around 4am on Wednesday. He was being treated for swallowing a nail, which is still in his stomach.
After the suspected murderer escaped, he borrowed a cell phone and called his wife. His wife arrived at the hospital in a taxi, picked him up, and drove off. No one was hurt in the escape, police said.
The taxi driver said the couple told him to stop and left the cab when they saw police checkpoints.
Chen was described as thin, 177cms tall, with a crew cut, and was "considered dangerous," police said. More than 1,000 officers are searching the city, with more than 80 checkpoints.
The prisoner was detained on November 20 last year for suspected murder and armed robbery.
