Birth in car as hospital is over booked
A pregnant woman in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province gave birth in her car parked in the hospital in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province because the hospital ran out of beds.
The man surnamed Li said on the Internet that his wife felt great pains early yesterday morning and knew she was about to give birth.
The family rushed her to the Jiangning District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, but a doctor said all their hospital beds had been occupied and urged them to go to other hospitals because the woman wouldn't give birth within an hour or two, Li said.
When the family reluctantly got into their car, the woman felt the throes of birth and delivered a healthy girl in the car, the local Jiangnan Times reported today.
A hospital official apologized and said the doctor on duty is inexperienced and made a wrong judgment. "We will strengthen professional training to prevent such errors from happening again," he said.
