Blogger in fridge smashing protest
A CHINESE blogger who became incensed at his fridge door's failure to shut properly vented his anger yesterday.
In front of German company Siemens China's headquarters in Beijing, he and a group of friends smashed up three of its refrigerators.
They put up signs saying: "Siemens: You'd better close the door ... " in both English and Chinese outside the building's entrance. Luo Yonghao - who is known as Lao Luo in the online community - posted pictures of the protest on his microblog and said it was an attempt to force Siemens to come up with a remedy for faulty doors.
Luo has been demanding a public admission from Siemens that its doors have quality defects for more than two months.
Siemens, meanwhile, said it has offered an inspection and repair service for any customers who have faulty doors.
A spokeswoman for Siemens said it had invited the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine to a examine its fridges and added: "Luo has twice refused to let our customer service employee visit his home and check his fridge."
Siemens said in September it realized some doors could not be closed tightly. It posted a customer service hotline and details of its inspection and repair service online.
