Body found at bottom of reservoir
THE body of man thought to have been murdered more than two years ago was recovered recently from a reservoir in east China’s Zhejiang Province.
The corpse was identified as that of a man surnamed Zhang, who is believed to have been killed by a gang of loan sharks after running up debts of 26.5 million yuan (US$4.2 million), the Qianjiang Evening News reported yesterday.
The body was found on January 6 at a depth of more than 100 meters, police were quoted as saying. They had been searching for it for more than a year.
Prosecutors will now proceed with their case against the gang’s leader, a man surnamed Hu, who has been in police custody since February 2013.
The case will be heard at Hangzhou Intermediate People’s Court, the report said.
