Bomb hoax ends up in woman's detention
A woman in China's southwestern Yunnan Province called the police on Monday, threatening there was a bomb in a local cultural center but police found it was a hoax, Kunming Daily reported today.
The 36-year-old woman surnamed Yin has been detained by police in Kunming, the provincial capital, for making a false "terrorism" alarm.
Kunming police received her call at about 1:15pm Monday. Yin claimed that there was a bomb in the Kunming Workers Cultural Palace, then hanged up abruptly.
Kunming police rushed to the scene immediately and evacuated all the people 25 minutes later, but failed to locate the bomb.
The police soon identified the caller and seized her three hours later. Yin allegedly confessed that she made the false alarm in order to create something sensational because she had a dispute with her boyfriend and felt frustrated.
