Boss of ‘blast’ mine held

THE owner of a coal mine in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province where an explosion happened on Wednesday trapping 19 workers, has been taken into custody, authorities said yesterday.
The blast happened about 2:30pm at the Xiangyang coal mine in Hegang when 52 people were working underground, 33 of whom escaped. A rescue mission is ongoing for the 19 people missing.
