Boy, 12, suffers vitriol attack by mother's boyfriend
A 12-year-old boy suffered severe burns from sulfuric acid poured on him by his mother's boyfriend this morning as he was going to school in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province.
The man fled the scene after the vitriol-spill attack around 7am, local daily Modern Express reported.
The boy is receiving emergency treatment in the intensive care unit of a children's hospital. He has burns on his face, neck, chest and abdomen. His eyes were also burned, the paper said.
Police are conducting a manhunt for the man and have posted his photo online to seek clues to his whereabouts.
