Boy, 3, miraculously escapes death after being brutally beaten by suspected maniac on street
A man in western China’s Shaanxi Province has been arrested by local police after a surveillance video clip lately exposed online shows him crazily beating a boy on the street-side.
Police said the assailant, named Wang Jiaolong, has been arrested. He used to suffer mental disorders and he would be examined for his mental conditions at time of the attack, police said.
The clip, believed to have come from surveillance video dated this Monday evening, showed the boy, who was sweeping the ground then aside a street in Yan’an City, was suddenly kicked by the man walking by.
He didn’t stop after the boy fell to the ground but continued to stamp on the boy’s body violently and used the broom and dustpan to strike his head. The attack lasted for about a minute and didn’t stop until people from a nearby store rushed out to help the victim.
A local hospital reportedly said the boy was now conscious but he would still undergo a series of exams to rule out the possibility of brain hemorrhage since he suffered head injuries.
Local police said later this afternoon that the boy suffered skull fractures and multiple bruises over his body. He's currently in non-critical condition, police said.
The toddler was left alone to play there and was trying to sweep the street while his parents were looking after business in their store nearby.
