Boy admits killing girl, 10
A boy in junior middle school in eastern China's Anhui Province was detained by police and has admitted stabbing a 10-year-old girl several times and drowning her in a well, the Anhui Business News reported yesterday.
Police in the city of Chizhou said the suspect surnamed Wu, 14, sneaked into his neighbor's home with a knife on Saturday morning when the girl, 10, was home alone.
The girl's mother came back at noon and discovered her daughter's school bag and a lot of blood. The girl's parents later found footprints with blood in the living room. They traced the footprints and eventually found her body in the well behind the house.
A police investigation concluded that the girl was stabbed three times in the face and then thrown into the well to drown. An old, blind woman said she heard the girl yelling for help.
The suspect's father told the newspaper he didn't notice anything unusual about his son that day. When the girl's body was found, the boy even pretended to be scared and said: "Who was so cruel to do that?"
After caught by the police, the boy claimed he threw the knife on a nearby hill, prompting a fruitless search. He confessed one day later that he hid the knife at home.
More details about the case, including the boy's motive, were not revealed but the boy had confessed, the newspaper quoted police as saying.
