Boy chokes to death on steak bone

A 9-year-old boy choked to death after a steak bone got lodged in his throat on Sunday in Putian, Fujian Province, the Strait Metropolitan Daily reported.
The boy swallowed a bone when he was eating steak at home on Saturday evening. Anxious family members tried using chopsticks to remove the bone, according to the report. They even asked the boy to stand on his head to shake it loose, the report added.
The boy went into shock and was sent to a hospital. He was pronounced dead at 5am on Sunday despite hours of rescue treatment, the newspaper said.
Doctors warned people to seek medical treatment immediately if a bone gets stuck in their throat.
