Boy fatally injured after being tossed to ground by stranger

A three-year-old boy in south China's Guangdong Province was seriously injured after he was held up and thrown to the ground three times by a strange man on Saturday, Guangzhou Daily reported.

Shunde County police said boy is in critical condition with fractured skull and brain injury. The 41-year-old suspect has been captured.

A witness surnamed He said the boy was riding toy bicycle on Fuzhi Road around 6pm on Saturday when the suspect suddenly rushed to the boy, held him overhead and threw him to the ground with force.

The boy tried to crawl away, but the man picked him up and threw him two more times.

Seeing the boy was motionless, the man ran away. He, who is already over 80 and too old to chase, called the police.

The boy surnamed Pan was sent to the hospital immediately, but doctors said his survival rate was very slim because he suffered severe brain damage.

The suspect was later seized by police. His motivation is still unknown while investigation is ongoing, the police said.
