Boy hidden in luggage to steal on inter-city bus

A thief was detained for hiding his 13-year-old partner in a bag and asking him to steal electronic gadgets in the undercarriage luggage compartment of a coach, said police in Dongguan, southern Guangdong Province.
The 19-year-old man bought a ticket from Guangzhou to Dongguan last Wednesday and carried his partner in a big bag. During the hour-long ride, the boy stole two laptops and several packages of cigarettes from others' luggage and went back to his hiding place before the bus came to a stop, police said.
After the bus arrived in Dongguan, the boy was freed in a toilet. They immediately bought two tickets back to Guangzhou and sold the stolen goods, the Nanfang Daily reported today.
The pair was caught on Sunday while hunting for the next theft target. They said they came from Shaoguan, another city in Guangdong, and they dropped out of school to engage in theft, the report said.
Police urge travelers to always carry valuable items with them and don't leave them in the luggage compartment of a bus, the report said.
